Another answered prayer!!
When I said Haley would be walking on her own before we know it I didn't really think it would happen this week but she is everywhere!! She had a great week at school and seems to really love having her independence back! Ms Kristi is using her wheelchair to get her from her room to the gym simply because they are on opposite ends of the school but she is walking everywhere else and riding the tricycles around in the gym once she gets there!! Its absolutely a miracle to watch her go! We have been able to get outside to play several afternoons this week and it has been a great change of scenery for us all after being in the house for weeks! The only "hiccup" now is she is petrified of falling, (and who wouldn't be) so she is extremely careful while walking and she isn't sleeping so great at night but maybe that will come back soon too! I imagine her leg is sore from being used again especially with her using it so much all of a sudden! We have tried Motrin at bedtime to try to help in case she is having discomfort (since she has such a high pain tolerance, she says it doesn't hurt but it has to be sore)...
I go back to the doctor Monday morning...that will be two weeks from D day!! We are all so excited! Can't wait to see Ty and who he looks like, and what color hair he has (if there is enough peach fuzz there to tell) and of course make sure he is healthy! I can't wait to see the kids reactions to him and see the three of them together...our complete family! How exciting!!
The days seem to be flying off the calendar now!
Next week Haley goes for her yearly visit to the eye doctor she doesn't seem to be having any problems but with her having hydrocephalus she is at an increased risk of optic nerve damage from pressure so she is watched closely...she has one eye that is bad about wandering when she is tired or feeling bad but it must be getting stronger because it doesn't wander as badly now as it did a year ago! I called her Pediatrician's office this past week and they are setting us up an appointment to see an allergist at Children's to see exactly what she is so allergic to related to surgery and we are thinking we will schedule to have her metal plates removed the end of the week before spring break that way she will be full speed again for when school starts back and it won't interfere with her swimming and stuff this summer! I will keep you posted as the doctor's visits unfold this week! Have a great week and thanks for checkin on us!
