Vacation Bible School
This week has been CRAZY!!! Haley and Brock are doing swimming lessons every morning this week and next week and VBS has been at night each night... I will post pictures from swimming lessons soon but just had to write a little about bible school. I worked with preschool, which I LOVE!!! They are so precious and say the sweetest things! I had the most wonderful ladies working with me and great guys doing our gametime! My favorite thing about bible school is watching their faces when you see them "get it" like at the end of the night when we ask questions about the bible story or craft or songs and they can tell you what it was about, usually their way of retelling it is so sweet that it just warms your heart! My favorite quotes of the week though:
Jennifer: (during bible time she was telling them about Pharoh and the plagues) The water turned red. Red water would be yucky wouldn't it?
Gage: Mam?! Mam?! Red water is ACTUALLY called Lava.
After church the other night at bedtime we were asking the kids what story they heard, they had talked about the passover...and I asked what the passover was...
Haley: Mommy my teacher asked us to raise our hands if we knew what the passover was and I was the only one to raise my hand!
Me: Really?! So, what is the Passover Haley?
Haley: I told her we did it all the time in school...
Me: In school? You talked about the Passover in school? In your kindergarten class? Really?! So, tell me what it is then...
Haley: We did it almost every day Mrs Galloway would tell us to pass our pencils to the front and we did the passover all the way up to the board where they go.
This next one happened tonight and its not a funny but my favorite moment from the week. In all the craziness of tonight, we were 4 adults short in our age group and the whole night was CRAZY!! But I was helping with Chadder Theater and they were talking about turtles and how if a turtle is frightened it hides in its shell...well one of the activities was to split the kids into groups of four with an adult in each group and one child got in the middle of the circle and the others used their hands (kind of like playing London bridge) to make a "shell" over them...then the "shell" group prayed for the "turtle" child... So we individually prayed over each child that they would be brave and strong and know that God was always with them and after my little group had all had a turn I was getting ready to stand and one of the little girls said, "wait, you didn't have a turn." And I said, "that's okay, let's see how we are on time so we can go back to the playroom" and she said, "no, you have to have a turn, bend down and be the turtle so we get a turn to pray over you!" So, I did and I have to tell you hearing that little four year old pray for me was AMAZING! I am still in awe!
If you don't help in VBS you are missing out!
