Catching up...

Brock had a busy week last week.  He went to the allergy and asthma doctor Monday and was finally diagnosed with Asthma officially.  As if the asthma attacks that he started having more frequently wasn't good enough.  We had not seen this doctor before and I really liked him.  Brock did a breathing test when we first got there and then they taught him to use the inhaler and did allergy tests...this means they number 1-25 on the inside of his arm and prick his skin with the 25 most common allergens.  Bless his heart he was allergic to 20 of 25 and not just a little allergic!  He got a raised spot from all 25 but from 20 the redness made a ring around his arm so basically his arm was rashed from the inside of his elbow to his wrist!  He was so brave and didn't cry but I can't imagine how awful that was for him!!  He did another breathing test after that and scored much better with the inhaler on board.  He now has an inhaler to use before PE at school, a powder inhaler for bedtime and a nose spray for twice a day.  We see the doctor again in a month and if he goes until that visit without an attack then we will discuss cutting back on some of it and also discuss allergy shots.  He says he wants to get the attacks under control first and then worry about the allergies.  If we do the shots they are once a week for six weeks and then once a month for up to 4 four years.  We will cross that bridge when we get to it!

Brock also started upward basketball last week.  He is SOO excited and really loved his first practice.  He has wanted to play basketball since he was tiny and we never really knew (still don't) why.  We aren't really basketball people but he is obsessed with it! All of his games will be at 8am on Saturday mornings (which really stinks) but it will all be worth it if he loves it.  He has kept his uniform on most of the time when he is home since he got it Thursday night and slept in it almost every night!

Don't you love it how when it rains it pours?!  Our air conditioner quit two days before Thanksgiving...and we had record high heat that week!  It was great!  So we got to put in a new unit last Friday.  Very exciting i know!  So Merry Christmas to Lance and Stephanie!  Of course like i started out its never just one thing so my car needed work last week too!  FUN!  Hopefully that is all past us now!

Homeschool is still going really good!  This week we will be adding some hands on math...baking, to our Tuesday.  We finished up story time at the library last week Ty is finally getting more excited and involved with that.  Haley loves library day and picking out new books.  She is really excited about the class at the school that we are secret pals with.  They have been sending her books and cards and she thinks that is just great!  She gets so excited to look through all the cards.  They have sent her Amelia Bedelia books and those are her favorites right now.  Her reading is really improving and her self esteem is so much better.  Her whole demeanor is so much better.  This was absolutely the right decision.  Ty is learning his letters (he knows most of their sounds already) and his colors.

In case you don't keep up with us on facebook I will add this little story....we have three elves at our house, one for each child.  And they mostly hide and bring fun stuff they don't get into too much trouble.  Well last week Ty got up and his was on the toy box with a reese cup in his hands...so Ty decided that meant he needed help with opening it and went and grabbed it *gasp*.  So, needless to say the big kids went nuts because your elf loses its magic if you touch it!  At nap time that day the other kids elves had moved and his didn't...the next morning his had moved and all three elves were on the fireplace each in a different truck or car driving it.  Well Brock went into this long explanation with Ty about how their elves must have carried his back to the North Pole to get more magic...while Brock was talking Ty never slacked up he walked straight over to all the elves and picked up both of the other kids elves!! Of course they were so upset and he went right into the explanation with them of how their elves had just lost their magic and he was so sorry but they wouldn't move anymore!  UGH!  What am i going to do with that child!?!
This morning the elves were all in the stairwell going to our playroom and were apparently decorating the hallway with toilet paper because they had strung it from side to side but Brock's was on the ground at the landing...it MUST have fallen from its perch above...the kids were hilarious all standing over the fallen elf but not getting too close so as to not make it lose its magic!  Lance is convinced that could have traumatized them and I dared him to go down there and draw a little chalk body line around it!  Now that really would scar them for life!  ;-)
Have a great week!
