George is Here!!!
I heard about this years ago but Haley wasn't really old enough until this year to get into it! The full story and correct way is at www.elf-magic.com but I am a cheapo so we aren't using those elves...this is our elf in the picture hanging on the cookie mix and Haley has named him George. To sum it up the elves have finished making toys by this time of year so they get into trouble at the North pole and Santa needs help keeping an eye on them...If you leave out crackers and water (crackers sound like crackling snow when chewing them and the water is like melted snow so both remind them of their home) you can lure one to your house...they have to sleep in the kitchen and they eat during the night...sometimes they get into mischief and sometimes they leave gifts but either way its fun to get up in the morning and see what they have gotten into during the night! Last night was the first night George was with us and he wanted to make peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies with Haley today so he got out all he thought they needed! Tonight I have a hunch he is gonna bring in a new Story of Christmas book...
She was so cute this morning she had already been in the kitchen before me and looked at him but just ignored him so i went in and asked her about it....she looked right at me tilted her head to the side and said, "Who put that there you or Daddy?" I had to struggle to keep a straight face and tell her it wasn't there when we went to bed so George must have done it! She quickly came back with, "well, I didn't hear him in here did you?!" I told her I thought I heard something but he is so small he must be pretty quiet!! She understands it a lot more than I thought she would! It all ends Christmas because you have to leave your elf out on Christmas eve with the cookies for Santa so he can pick them back up so they can get back to work on making all those toys. This will be fun for the next few weeks!
We took the kids tonight to see a live Nativity that you drive thru right near the house...I told them about it before Lance got home and said we would go after supper...as soon as we finished eating Haley started in, "I am ready to go see the baby Jesus! We need to go see Jesus now!" It was so sweet! They LOVED it!!! It was several different scenes from the Angel talking to Mary through modern day Christmas and praying for our troops...We got a little Jesus ornament as we were coming in, they give one to every carload, and Haley was so excited that the J was a candy cane. We had just read the legend of the Candy Cane book yesterday so she immediately knew it was the upside down candy cane! As soon as we came in she hung it on the tree. This is definately turning out to be our best Christmas so far!!
