What a week!!!

Last Thursday night on the way into the bathroom for a shower Haley fell and broke her left leg. She still had the metal plates in from the double hip surgery in 2006 so the bone broke at the weakest point right above the metal plate...pretty much the top of her femur! We took her to Children's and they did surgery Friday around 12:30. She did great through surgery and they didn't even put her in a cast!! He replaced the metal plate with a new one about twice as big as the first and told us before surgery that as long as the bone density was good he wouldn't use a cast. She was in the hospital until Sunday afternoon and then we came home...they gave her morphine in the hospital for pain and sent us home with Lortab. We noticed on the ride home that her back was a little broken out around her pull up but it looked like a heat rash so we weren't too concerned...well the rash kept progressing until it covered arms, legs, back, feet, hands, basically everything except for her face and top of the front of her torso! It started as tiny raised red bumps that itched and then by Tuesday morning each of those bumps was a water blister, some had joined and were as big as a quarter!! Needless to say this was HORRIBLE because the back of her was much worse than the front and that's where she was having to lay and every time we lifted her it would bust water blisters!! PAIN!! So, we went back to the emergency room Tuesday night and were released from there early Wednesday morning...After four different doctors looked at her they all agreed that they think it was a reaction to the Lortab...So now we are home and she is improving! The bad thing about water blisters is they get worse before they go away so today we are at the itching stage but the fever is starting to go away some and had stayed low grade until this morning...so we will take any improvement we can get! On a better note, the actual broken leg doesn't seem to be bothering her at all! Last night we had to keep reminding her not to stand up out of her chair and this morning she keeps rolling onto her tummy and trying to crawl!!! So, once we get these blisters gone it should be smooth sailing! We have a wheelchair and she can sit up fine, she can't do anything weight bearing for the next six weeks but we can deal with that!
