Well the kids really enjoyed egg hunting this year...they get it and Brock's competitive side really shows! Haley on the other hand finds around three shakes each one and then wants to sit and open them instead of finding anymore! Needless to say, not a competitive bone in her body! And Ty takes after Brock the more he can find and throw at the basket the happier he is!
I had talked Haley into signing up for softball at our church, all the other girls her age are playing and she could play if she wanted to but if she wanted to just play the field and hang out in the dugout she could do that too and she wouldn't have to hit....WELL, (you know how this is gonna end right?) we ended up with too many girls for one team but not enough for two but they split the team anyway and so she was gonna HAVE to play and it quickly went from fun to scary to her so she is gonna be the proud owner of a team jersey and we will go to some of the games and sit in the stands and cheer but she isn't going to play! I am kind of sad about that because I believe every child should take part in a team sport at least once...i just think the potential lessons learned are invaluable but maybe later! She was really bummed that all of her friends weren't gonna be on the same team anymore and so now she is excited about cheering for both!
We got two new kittens this week, the white one is a girl, Haley named her Grace (Junie B's best friend in the books) and I had to drive to the other side of town to get her in Moundville! The little Orange one is a boy that Brock named Skip and he loves that it is orange like his hair! He says he named him Skip because he likes the movie My Dog Skip...and I went into the whole we are getting puppies in a few months name your puppy skip but it fell on deaf ears he was stuck on Skip so he is probably the only cat in the world named Skip!! I met a girl from Duncanville to get Skip. The thought is that with them coming from different places they can have kittens one day and I think that's something all kids should experience! I am also under the belief that two new animals are easier to take care of than one because they have each other and four days in let me tell you it worked that way again! They had to get used to each other and she is bigger than him because she is a few weeks older but now when I go to get them in the morning they are curled up together on a stuffed animal! So sweet!! I am hoping that at least one of them will like to kill small animals like our last cat did because since he has been gone we have enough squirrels to carry us away and lizards galore!! She keeps sitting on the back porch staring at the birds coming and going from the feeder so maybe that is a good sign!
I am so ready for Summer! I am ready for the kids to just be home everday! Not having to watch the clock so close for nap times and bed times is always a much better situation around here!! I am beginning to understand even more why people homeschool!
