Duty Free Lunch
One day a month they have duty free lunch for the teachers at the school and parents provide desserts and stay with the classes so the teachers can go eat in peace. Well, yesterday was the day so Ty and I went to go make sure both classes were covered and ate with Brock's class first. About halfway through lunch the principal walked by and stopped to reprimand Ty for dropping something on the floor and handed him a napkin and had him clean up his mess and go throw it in the garbage...I couldn't see what he had dropped and had heard she had this side to her but really didn't think a whole lot of it. But I did notice she looked at me as she walked away (I thought it was a, you should have had him pick that up look and for the record I would have had him pick it up after he was through eating) as it turns out...she beelined it to the teacher's lounge in embarrassment... The teachers said she came in, went straight to Brock's teacher and said, "you are not going to believe what I just did, Isn't Brock in your class?? well i should say wasn't he because I am sure his mother will have him in a private school by the end of the week" So several of the teachers that know us came to hear what had happened and she told them about getting on to a child about spilling a grape on the floor and not picking it up (as it turns out she had warned the children in morning announcements about eating over their trays and not leaving such a mess) and didn't realize he wasn't a kindergartener until he was headed back to the table with his bright yellow visitor sticker on his shirt. They assured her if I had been offended she would have known at the time but they all thought it was hilarious (well except her). You have to know she runs a tight ship and isn't too big on admitting when she is wrong (according to them). She has never been anything but super helpful and nice to us so while it surprised me that she got onto Ty I just figured since he is up there with me so much she was treating him like one of hers. When I walked the class back to their room several of the teachers were laughing and telling me about it and wanted me to go tell her I was not mad. (I didn't think that was such a good idea as it would be really obvious they had told on her) So she avoided me during Haley's lunch period and as I was signing us out she was coming up the hall and bless her heart she could not have been more embarrassed. I smiled at her when she finally looked up and asked her if she was having a good day and then she came clean on the whole story. It was really funny and she couldn't believe he is still just two years old and three school years away from being up there. I assured her I was not upset in any way but bless her heart I bet she is more cautious who she gets onto in the lunchroom and now some of the teachers that didn't think she had an apologetic side know that she can admit when she messes up!
