Perspective...

It was my word of the week last week and boy did God use it to show me in several different situations that its all about your perspective on things.  A few weeks ago Haley went back to the Endocrinologist like we do every 4-6 months and they always check her growth and weight and adjust her shot amounts accordingly.  That  day was no different than the others, she had grown and we got the new amount for the daily injections, the Dr came in and asked all the usual questions then as she was about to leave she started fumbling through the chart then kind of looking at Haley and fumbling again...My stomach completely sank as I held my breath...been there done that it never ends well.  She excused herself from the room promising to be right back.  When she returned she wanted to do the bloodwork at this visit like we do every few but then it came... "Have you had her chromosomes checked?"...Yes, of course we have.  Twice to be exact and gazillions of other tests too.  "Who did that?  Why don't I have a copy of it?  Who can I have my nurse call while you wait to get a copy?"  So I filled her in on all those answers and she said, "Okay, well I was thinking she fit the bill for Turner Syndrome but that would have shown up in those tests.  You are free to go after you have her labs drawn."  And she left the room.....  Um, okay.  So Haley is the same child she was ten minutes before and of course very healthy and doing great but NOW all of a sudden I was second guessing everything about the last nine years.  I texted Lance to start looking it up...this is a running joke with us because we usually only get bad news when I am at a visit alone so this is not the first time in between the normal texts like, Just got in the room or no bloodwork today or waiting forever on this doctor to come in....I send him the name or diagnosis of whatever they have said he looks it up, I call when I get to the car and he fills me in on all the details they didn't give me in the room.  So we go down to have the labwork done and as the lady is about to put the needle in Haley's arm a girl comes running in the room to stop her and ask her to step outside...  This was bad for two reasons, you already have my child's arm wiped and ready and her freaking out and you leave...and I knew it was gonna be about the chromosomes.  The girl that had stopped her came in and told me they had contacted the dr's I had told them and couldn't find the results and would I please sign a release to have them rechecked as well as another test that goes along with that.  She kept reassuring me that they would only stick her one time but wasn't too keen on answering my, "why are we just now testing for this? Today? not 4 years ago when we started coming here?"  type questions.  But of course I signed the release and we heard from the doctor last Thursday everything is fine.  Her chromosomes are perfect it is just the hydrocephalus.  They did end up finding the results from the first two times they were fine too.
