The first week went great!! Very smooth! Brock's feet behaved Wednesday so that problem is all solved and a few minor details at Haley's need to be worked out but other than that great week! I went to eat with her Wednesday and was very pleasantly surprised how well these kids do self serving themselves in the lunchroom!! I was ready for chaos (and by that I mean gross chaos...you are talking about someone who thinks buffet's are like the grossest thing ever so the mere thought of K, 1, and 2 grades serving themselves makes my skin crawl) but it was really smooth! Haley is sitting in a chair instead of on the floor during circle time...she told them she needed to because of her hip but when questioned about it at home she told me, "mommy that floor they sit on is so nasty!" i think i am raising a third generation germaphobe! The school is brand new the floor is not nasty! She wasn't carrying her own tray in the lunchroom or punching in her own number but now they know she can and so I am sure she will be in the future! Wednesday when I got to the school I noticed she didn't have on the outfit she left the house in...I asked her what happened and she said she had had an accident and needed to change...(that morning she told me she didn't want to wear that and I made her....she usually doesn't care what you ask her to put on but felt especially strongly about not wearing the shirt...) Well, when we got to the lunchroom one of the other teachers was telling me she had helped her change but that there was really no need...flip forward 10 years can't you just see the discussion...Haley that is too much makeup or too short a skirt or whatever and she sneaks it out in her backpack!!
We had an interesting conversation this morning on the way to school...her teacher had needed a band-aid which had Haley all concerned last night about the boo boo!....so on the way to school this is how it played out:

Mommy, do you think she will still have a boo boo?
I don't know Haley, I bet she is fine! What did you say happened how did she get a boo-boo?
Well, you know she sits in those little bity chairs like us!
O my goodness! Did she fall out of the chair?
No, but if she was goldilocks she would have broken it.
Yes, goldilocks did break the chair didn't she?!
Well, was the little bears chair a high chair like Ty's or just a little chair?
The story says it was a little chair not a high chair...why?
Well Mommy, How in the world did little bear reach his food if he was in a little chair and his mommy and daddy were in big chairs at the same table??!

Okay, is this the same child that has trouble remembering letter names?? Have you ever thought about the chair descepancy at the bears house because in my 32 years of hearing the story it has never occured to me that she is totally right it makes no sense!! We have just got to learn how to chanel this kind of thinking into where it needs to be!
Have a great weekend!
